..today was Claude Bourbon, a singer, guitarist, songwriter who was born in France and now lives in the south of England. He has 2 engagements in Devon this week: Thursday 5 May at the Blue Walnut Cafe, Torquay from 19:30 and Friday 6 May in The B-Bar @ The Barbican Theatre, Plymouth. A nice guy and a superb musician.

Joe Selman Leva talked about 2 shows at Dartington Hall and the Bikeshed Theatre, Exeter. Joe performs with the SourDough Theatre Company. They are premiering Red Oleanders at the Tagore 150 Festival in Dartington this weekend and then bringing it to the Bikeshed next week. Written by Rabindranath Tagore in the 1940s, it's a play exploring the themes of the need for freedom against oppression and the power of love in the face of adversity. Jerri Daboo, Senior Lecturer in Drama at the University of Exeter is the director and it is the first time SourDough have used an outside director. Matt Newbury publicised events at Exeter's Northcott Theatre.

I can personally recommend Shakespeare At The Tobacco Factory's production of Comedy Of Errors which is running at the Northcott until Saturday. A magnificent production in the round and superbly cast.

Amongst other events there, later in May, Sell A Door Theatre Company present Frank Wedekind's controversial play A Spring Awakening, as a musical. It's had several top awards and has become a cult musical. There are also productions for children coming up. Look at the complete Northcott Theatre programme on their website.
